The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1931 was awarded to Otto Warburg "for his discovery of the nature and mode of action of the respiratory enzyme." "the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar."
